| Not much words. Just some facts and 2 videos. This is the largest map ever made for EoD, and maybe one of five made for Battlefield 1942. It has the size of Khe Sanh, Operation Hastings, Operation Prairie and Landingzone X-Ray together in one huge map! It takes you about an hour to drive with a jeep to every corner of the map and about 3-4 minutes with a Mig-21. The map size will be about 160MB (compressed). Now we need a new code from EA for 256 players ![]() You'll need actual hardware to play this map in coop. With a 3 years old intel E8500 and nvidia GT9800-1024 I get 100 fps in CONQuest and about ~75 fps in COOP. Older PC may have spf instead of fps ![]() |

| New maps is what keeps the game alive so here are two more fighting areas. The first is the Hoa Lo Prison, later sarcastically known to American prisoners of war as the 'Hanoi Hilton'. It was a prison used by the French colonists in Vietnam for political prisoners and later by North Vietnam for prisoners of war during the Vietnam War. | Time for an update soldiers! We've finished the 222th map and still are wondering if there's a limit in Battlefield 1942 ![]() So if you've finished eating BF-3 and want to come back to the old-school games you may test the fun of EoD classic with it's new features. Some days ago we've reported on the new ingame maps and ike's new surfboard for Charly. Some weapon sounds have been overworked and of course a lot of maps have got AI updates and improvements. Well and here are some new areas to run riot: Operation Hump has been created by Jackson. It's a remake of Dice's map Hellendoorn and has been completely rebuild. There are planes and helicopters on a closed airfield so noone can use them and it's a pure tank and inf map. We think Jackson doesn't love the pilots very much ![]() Operation Hump ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Snipers never had been preferred in EoD cause sniping can destroy any gameplay fast and easy. So fans of the crosshair will get their thrill in this map. Snipers ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Based on an idea while watching a movie this map was born: Bong Son Valley ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We've got Halong Bay, Danang Bay and Baytown, so we needed a new name for this bay. Cause we didn't find any it's simply called The Bay ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The end of Vietnam war was reached with the fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975. | In v2.40 we'll have new InGameMaps for all 222 maps. The new feature will help you tagging the control points and gives some information about the map. Also we've improved the size of the combat area and InGameMap so it will be much more detailed. Click picture to see full details. |

| The EoD Classic Armies Section has been updated! EoD classic will have some more updates. We've got a collection of new maps, improved some vehicles and weapons and a very nice lightning weather effect. And there are several more plans to improve the game. Release candidate v2.40 will be finished this winter, maybe 2011 or early 2012. Some previews coming soon... |

| Sometimes while playing on a server I dreamed about fishing at some beautifull places in EoD. There are so much lakes and rivers in the game and I asked myself if it would be possible to create a fishing rod as a 'weapon' and fishes as bots *lol* Of course it's not possible and the game has some restricions that will prevent you to create such a mod. Well, the idea was strongheaded and didn't get out of my mind. So I looked for some fishing games around there in the web and I stumbled over FishSim, still one of the best fishing simulators out there. | Download v2.31 now ! Download v2.31 update It's more than 8 years ago now that the first build of EoD was published. It was called v0.10 - (they meant 10% finished at this time) and it was the first published Battlefield 1942 mod. ![]() The high period of EoD was in 2003 when v0.31 was released. Till today the old game has players - enough to play online with some friends - or offline with the AI. ![]() In memory of v0.31 we have an actual update called v2.31 ! And that doesn't mean it's 231% finished ![]() ![]() The update has some overworked and new maps. You can see screenshots of the new maps (also shown here in the news) in our EOD Battlefield 1942 / Missions section. ![]() ![]() Also there are some new vehicles. ike has finished the Ilyushin IL-28 'Beagle' and built another rocket system, the MIM-23 HAWK including commando and radar station. ![]() ![]() The Hidden Airfield map was built by Sarge Surfat from BG42 and a present for EoD. | After an 8-days-downtime the website is back again and we are very happy about that. The work on v2.31 is finished and we're testing some things.
